Director, Business Development & Alliance Management

An exciting new opportunity has opened up for a Director, Business Development & Alliance Management to work closely with the SVP, Business Development in the alignment of growth initiatives and business development plans with corporate strategies by keeping abreast of industry trends, interests, and developments; managing, strengthening and nurturing existing partnerships as well as forging new business collaborations; and establishing, developing and supporting alliances with government agencies and other biopharmaceutical partners.

Key Responsibilities and Duties

  • Develop and implement partnering strategy and lead qualification based on external analysis and corporate strategy
  • Champion company growth and funding opportunities through partnering, up alliances, licensing, joint ventures and acquisitions
  • Identify and help develop relationships with potential partners, influencers, and governments in line with corporate plans
  • Build and manage alliances with partner organizations to ensure partnership achieve required outcomes
  • Establish schedule for communications with all partners to review ongoing business activities, identify new opportunities, inform of new developments, and when necessary, negotiate to improve or modify terms
  • Complete detailed business & competitive analysis on key players in the vaccine industry as well as a comprehensive market analysis
  • Research, compile and integrate competitive business information within the industry, including a list of new potential partners
  • Carry out continuous analysis to ensure that company's business strategy is competing effectively and identify opportunities that may have strategic importance
  • Participate in term sheet and contract negotiation
  • Lead effective reporting and analytics to enable proper decisions
  • Create and drive an innovative approach to business development and marketing, with continuous improvement in systems, processes, standards and services
  • Maintain contact with relevant external stakeholders through different forums, events, channels

Qualifications & Experience

  • BSc and MBA preferred
  • Between 3 -5 years experience within the pharmaceutical or biotechnology industry, ideally with vaccine or immunology experience
  • Strong analytical and scientific mind set to effectively evaluate business opportunities
  • Proven ability to meet milestones and deadlines through superior time management and project management skills, including prioritizing, identifying high-value activities, managing expectations and delivering on commitment
  • Superior interpersonal skills to develop important relationships with key stakeholders and drive effective outcomes and problem resolution
  • Strong influencing, diplomacy and negotiation skills and able to work at peerlevel with scientific, medical and commercial experts
  • Able to succinctly communicate strategic advantages required to implement plan(s) in accordance with strategic objectives
  • Demonstrable “can do” attitude, flexibility and perseverance to roll-up sleeves to meet deliverables as necessary
  • Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills
  • Excellent leadership and management skills able to operate within a matrix structure across multi-functional teams
